Playdates

Here are a few photos I have accumulated over the past couple weeks at some of our play dates. We have had wonderful weather (though I think that's about to change) and been able to enjoy lots of time with friends at the park and at the zoo. Right now my goal is to get outside as much as possible w/ the kids. We got to "store it up" for the winter.

For the most part, Coleman is the lone male at all our play dates. Thankfully for now, he doesn't know the difference. In other news, Coleman is taking his first steps! We have not been able to catch any of it on video (mostly because he only takes 1 to 3 steps at a time). We will be working on that though.

Extras

Basically, we had some extra photos to put up on the blog. These are just random ones that we've taken over the past week or so. Here's our little duo playing video games at McDonalds. This happens to be one of Callie's favorite things to do (she's had quite a few daddy/daughter dates here)

Callie one morning before preschool. She is still loving it! The other day I heard her saying "No throwing sticks, no throwing sand, no throwing wood chips, our hands are for helping not hurting." Wonder where she got that.

This guy is still just free standing, no real progress in the walking department just yet.

Coleman tackling Callie before bath time. They both thought it was hilarious. They real do play well together (most of the time).

Erin's wedding

Our staff friend, Erin, got married a couple of weekends ago. (side note, she actually married a guy named Aaron, so they are Aaron and Erin Horn!). I have never attempted a wedding ceremony with two kids. It was a bit crazy at times, but at least for the ceremony part I was able to be way in the back of the room with Coleman. He could crawl around while I still somewhat listened to the ceremony. The wedding was in downtown Saint Paul. It was a gorgeous day and we were a little early. Thanks to those two things we were able to get a few decent pictures.

This Guy

I thought that with all that is going on with Callie and preschool I might fail to give an update on Coleman. This post is an attempt to keep that from happening. There is a lot going on with Coleman these days. He is 10 months now and has finally gotten his first tooth. I would post a picture but it is just about 1 cm above the gumline. I'm thinking that might be harder to capture in a picture than Callie's teeny braid! Along with teething, he's been becoming more and more of a big boy. I thought about titling this post "I'm losing my baby" because that is how I feel. He is growing up so fast. He still isn't walking but he's pretty fast with the crawling and pulling up. He'll also free stand for a few seconds. We went to the doc. for his check up last week. His weight is around 25%, so he's on the small side in that regard. His height however continues to be a little above average (66%).
Coleman, you are such a delight. You make me so happy. You are the sweetest, most fun-loving baby. You bring us such joy!

Preschool

Oh I cannot believe my little girl is in preschool! Callie started her two-morning-a-week preschool this past Friday. She was so excited and had a great first day. I think she is going to have so much fun this year.

Taking her picture on the front steps...( I was totally tearing up.)

Here she is in her classroom. She was the 2nd kid to get there hence the fact that there are not a bunch of other children running around. There are 10 kids in her class...five boys and five girls!

Late Summer Days

The weather has continued to be great here even though I can tell fall is getting closer. I try to get outdoors with the kids as much as possible because I know what a Minnesotan winter can hold. We go to the park near our house almost daily. Sorry these pictures are a bit dark.
This was our new find this summer! It's a wading pool that's free and in a park about 2 miles from our house. We've been twice already. It's super nice.

And, finally we went back the other day to our wonderful little, free, zoo. It's so nice to have a free zoo to visit that's 15 minutes from our house. Coleman actually seemed fairly interested in the animals.
