Fall Leaves

It's been a rather rainy October, so anytime we can get outside we try and take advantage of it. We have 3 large maple trees in our backyard. It's beautiful to watch their leaves change, but it does leave quite a bit of raking for us (well, mainly Charlie) to do.

Thankfully, she didn't seem too alarmed that we put her in a large pile of leaves!

Weekend with Papa and Bebe

We had a great weekend with Papa and Bebe. It was pretty low key but we enjoyed eating out, going on walks, and going to the Northwestern soccer game. It was a fun weekend, and we were sad to see them go. We're already looking forward to seeing all our family at Christmas time!

It was hard to keep Callie still during the soccer game. By the end of the game she was raring to go. We took her down to the field and she probably crawled a good 50 yards.

She entertained herself during the game by climbing the bleachers.

We also went shopping where Callie got spoiled with a new toy. She loves it. I took about five pictures with her, Bebe, and the new toy. In all of them Callie was blurry. That is because she wouldn't stop moving! Hmm, I'm noticing a theme. I think it's safe to say God gave us an active one!

Aunt Laura: Part II

The highlight of our time was definitely our visit to Afton Apple Orchard (they had big pumpkin patches too). It was the perfect fall day for apple picking. Apparently other people had that same thought because the place was packed. We took a hayride out into the orchard. We probably took more pictures than we picked apples. Callie did however pick her first apple (all by herself). Her Dad has that on video, so I'm sure he'll be posting that soon. She loved tasting/gnawing the apples after I would take a bite out of them. It was funny to watch her try and dig in with her two teeth.

All good things must come to an end. This was the last picture before Aunt Laura left on Sunday morning. We hated to see her go, but we'll be looking forward to seeing her at Christmas!

Aunt Laura: Part I

My sister was just in town for a few days over her fall break. It was such a treat having her up here. We mostly just hung out at the house, went to run errands, and went out to eat. It was fun just "doing life" with her here. Yesterday was probably the highlight. It was a beautiful fall day and we went to the Afton Apple Orchard (more pictures from that to come!).

Callie was mesmerized by Aunt Laura's guitar playing. After a little while, however, she decided she wanted to help.

Here we are at Pizza Luce. It's a fun pizza place in downtown Minneapolis. Laura loved driving into the city, reminiscing of her year here.

Entertainment as of late

Honestly some of our favorite time lately has just been getting out of the house to go to the grocery store. I know that doesn't sound very exciting but when that's some of the only time you get out of the house, you tend to look forward to it. Thankfully, Callie seems to enjoy being pushed around in the grocery cart (most of the time at least). It is great that nearly every day I have a student or two come to the house to hang out. It definitely breaks up the day and we don't feel like total "shut ins." I guess we have to get used to being indoors. From the looks of our weather, our outside days are few and far between now.

Yes, these are pictures of Callie playing with a garlic bulb. I took them today because I thought it would be a good lead in to a funny story from yesterday. I was hanging out talking with a student yesterday afternoon. Callie was playing on the floor, and out of the corner of my eye I saw her pick up some small white thing and put it in her mouth. It was really small, and I thought it was just paper or something. She kinda made a face but kept chewing on it. She crawled over to me, and I got a whiff of her breath. It was definitely a little bit of raw, minced garlic that I had been chopping for this dish I was making! The student and I could not stop laughing. Raw garlic is so strong, but Callie didn't seem too phased by it. She just spit it out eventually and kept going, but her breath reeked for a while!

Big Girl

Callie looks like such a big girl with this outfit on, and especially when she is standing up.

Redecorating

So Callie must be on a redecorating spree! She has insisted on moving the chairs from our kitchen table. She apparently thought this one would look better in her bedroom. We've been having to do more fun inside things because all our good weather left us. Fall has arrived. In fact we were in the low 80s and then all of sudden a cold front moved in and it hasn't left. We've been in the 50s since. I guess we need to get used to being indoors. Winter is just around the corner!
