More crawling from Callie

At the request of her grandparents, we put together another clip of Callie crawling. We also added some footage of her playing with some plastic cups that were mine when I was a child.

Lake Calhoun

A couple of weeks ago, we took a trip down to Lake Calhoun. This is what Minnesotans call "the beach." It is a sandy area on the edge of a lake. We had a good time, and Callie enjoyed splashing in the water as usual.

Sculpture Garden

We went to the sculpture garden in downtown Minneapolis the other day. To this day, I still don't understand people's fascination with sculptures. Most of them just look like random pieces of metal put together into some shape that seems meaningless to me. Other sculptures are of "people" that look nothing like people to me. But in spite of all that, we had fun walking around the garden with Callie.
This is the famous sculpture in Minneapolis of the huge cherry in the spoon with the Minneapolis skyline in the background.

This was a huge swing that people could sit on. As you swing, part of the huge sculpture overhead moves too (this was actually a sculpture that I thought was pretty cool - mainly because it moved).

Callie really liked sticking her head through this sculpture. She's getting to be such a big girl.

Old Things

Callie and I had fun playing dress up this morning, well, I was dressing her up. This little dress is one that I wore when I was a baby. We promised Gami we would take a picture of Callie in this for her. The little Nike shoes were Charlie's when he was a baby. They still have a little Georgia red clay on the bottoms (kinda sentimental). They were a little big for Callie, but I'm sure she'll grow into them one day.

Callie is crawling

She has been crawling for a few days, but we were just able to get it on video. She particularly likes crawling to Jennifer's purse and some of her new toys.

Around the House and Birthday Party

Callie is definitely growing up. She is starting to crawl. She takes about 1-2 "steps" and then falls down. She can army crawl pretty well and pull herself across the floor to get to a toy or something like that. We are just waiting for her to take off. She has also found out how much fun it is to take things out of boxes or off of shelves. This is a picture of her pulling all of our storage containers from the kitchen off of the shelves (we had to put this one up because she was showing a little crack). It might be time for a bigger pair of jeans:

The cool whip container found its way to Callie's head (because I put it there):

This is Callie with two of her friends (Ellie Jane and Maddux). It was Ellie Jane's first birthday party, so they invited us over for some cupcakes. Ellie Jane's mom even made some apple sauce and banana sugar-free cupcakes that the babies could have. Callie didnt really know what to do with hers.

You're never too young to be a Braves fan

Callie put on her "First Braves Tee" this morning for the first time. This was a gift from Drew, one of the guys I disciple at Northwestern. Though she hasn't seen but about 5 Braves games on TV in her life, she has made it clear that she is a really big fan.

Family Shots and Bath Time

Before we left Spartanburg, we got some pictures of Callie and her family. This is Callie with her Greatmama, Gami, and Mama.

This is Callie with her Greatmama. Callie enjoyed staying at her Greatmama's house while we were in Spartanburg. She loved rolling around and trying to crawl on the think carpet. We have a hunch that Greatmama enjoyed having her around as well.

One of the exciting things about being back home is that Callie gets to play in her bathtub again. It was hard bathing her in kitchen sinks and "normal sized" bathtubs all summer. She has had 2 baths since coming home and has had fun playing with her rubber duckies for the first time.

Callie Clapping

Callie has just started clapping in the last week. We had missed several opportunities to get it on video, but we got her to clap (after initial refusal) this afternoon. Hope you enjoy:
