Peachtree-Dekalb Airport

If you would have asked us a few weeks ago if the airport would be a good place to take a child to play, we would have probably said no. However at that point we had not heard of the small Peachtree-Dekalb airport just outside of Atlanta. They have a little playground with some swings so the kids can play as they watch airplanes take off and land. Callie had a great time there.

Callie's First Braves Game

One thing that I had been looking forward to all summer was the opportunity to take Callie to her first Braves game. Our seats were perfect (on the aisle right next to the bullpen), so Callie had room to walk around a little bit. If you know our child, you know that she cannot sit still for more than 2 minutes. So the game was much more enjoyable since she could be a little more mobile. The Braves did end up winning 11-6 and we got to see a grand slam by Brian McCann. Callie didn't care as much about that, but I sure did!

When we got to the game, we had to stop by the clubhouse store so Papa and Bebe could get her a Braves shirt.

We can tell she is a big fan already.

In our seats before the game. In Jennifer's defense, she had no idea this picture was being taken. Regardless, she is going to kill me when she finds out I actually put it on our blog. I just liked the picture of Callie and me too much to resist putting it online.

Callie and Jennifer in their seat before the game. No weird hair flip in this one.

Callie getting excited before the game.

Callie pacing around our seats during the game.

I liked this one too much to leave it off. She has such a cute smile.

Callie and the Trampoline

My parents' neighbor's, the Courts, have a trampoline in their backyard that they have let us use since we have been home. Callie really enjoys playing on it. She hasn't gotten the whole "jumping" thing down yet, but she sure likes running around on it.

Atlanta Zoo

We took a trip to the Atlanta Zoo a few days ago and here are some of the pictures from our time.
If you know how much Jennifer likes giraffes, then you know this was a fun moment for her. The giraffe got pretty close to us. Callie looked for a little bit, but lost interest quickly.

The lemurs were Callie's favorite part of the zoo by far. She loved watching them run around and swing and play together. She was glued to the fence for a while.

When I was little, I went to the zoo and got my picture taken with this gorilla statue, so it was fun to take Callie to get her picture taken here as well.

At one of the exhibits, you could crawl through this tunnel to get to the room. Callie was hesitant at first, but she seemed to enjoy it once she got going.

The first animals that we saw were 500 parakeets. They have this big area with a net over everything that is full of parakeets flying everywhere. Callie liked watching them fly right by her head.

This was just a cool picture of a red panda hanging out in the trees.

This is one of the pandas at the zoo. They are cool animals, but Callie was a little bored because they were sleeping while we were there.

She did enjoy getting the panda stamp on her arm though.

She enjoyed the petting zoo almost as much as she liked the lemurs. She got to pet some goats...

and some sheep. She loved seeing the animals running around the area. The challenge was dodging their poop on the ground.

Our Time in Atlanta

We have been in Atlanta for just over a week. Here are some pictures from our time so far:

Callie has been reunited with her old friend Kaboodle. Kaboodle has about tripled in size since she last saw him. She can say his name now - she calls him "Boo!!" We have decided that Kaboodle is officially scared of Callie because she is always running full speed at him yelling his name and then pets him not so gently. (we hope to get some video of their interactions on the blog soon). But they still like playing in boxes just like they used to.

We have also been hanging out in the pool. Callie loves the water.

Her BeBe bought her a crab baby pool that she can play in. She likes putting the water in one cup, transferring it to another cup, then getting up and dumping it in the big pool. Hours of entertainment.

Here is a better look at her baby pool.

Spartanburg Videos...and 3 pics

Here are a couple of videos from our time in Spartanburg.

Callie's First Visit to Furman

When we were in Greenville, we had to take a stop at Furman to show Callie my old stomping grounds.
We were greeted in the parking lot by some ducks. Callie was real excited to see them.

We had to get a picture of us in front of the bell tower.

We walked around the lake and Callie got to see one of the famous Furman swans. Callie went running full speed towards it, so we had to stop her. This is as close as we would let her get.

This is her in front of the Furman Mall.

And this is us in front of the Bell Tower again.

She had fun running around the lake.

And, of course, we had to take her by my old apartment, E301. I told her stories from one of my favorite years at Furman.

And after we went to Furman, we had dinner with two of our friends, Will and Kennerly. They have a son that is 8 months old named Sam. Callie enjoyed playing with him.

4th of July and dogs

We got a whole bunch of family members together for a fourth of July party. Here are some shots of Callie playing in the yard (in her extremely short dress):

She loves throwing balls in the yard. She has good form for a throw-in in soccer

She also enjoyed her time playing with the dogs in Spartanburg. She learned their names pretty quickly and got in the habit of yelling their names or saying "dog" 200-300 times a day. She would say "Doldie" for Goldie and "Bable" for Rachel.
Here is a picture of her sitting with Goldie.

Rachel has a lot more energy than Goldie and would love to run up to Callie full speed and lick her face and jump all around her, so Gami would often have to mediate their interactions.

Callie handing Goldie a stick.

Callie riding Goldie. She got a big kick out of this...Goldie didn't seem to mind too much.

Family in Spartanburg

We were in Spartanburg for the past two weeks and spent a lot of time with family. Here are some of the shots we got of Callie and her family members:
