New outfit and a hairbow

So, if your post is entitled new outfit and hairbow I think it's safe to say there hasn't been too much excitement going on. The highlight of this past month was the winter retreat we had with students this past weekend. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures. Callie and I went along (we decided it would be way too boring at home by ourselves for 2 days). She did great, minus the fact that she didn't sleep hardly at all. The first night she was awake just talking in her crib from 12:30-3:30 in the morning. She followed that long night with a whopping 45 min. nap the next day. I think she was afraid she was going to miss some excitement or something. Considering her sleeplessness, I thought she handled herself around the 100 or so students pretty well. I enjoyed being able to be somewhat in the mix of things. All in all it was a great weekend.

I decided it was high time for her to get a hairbow. Due to the fact that she only has a few strands of hair in which to put the bow, any sudden, jerky movements may send it flying.

she doesn't seem to mind it being there

she's such a good poser!

Charlie picked out this outfit for Callie at Old Navy. He loves buying her clothes. We don't actually buy her clothes very often, so when we do it's a fun treat. We think she looks so grown up in the outfit.

Here we are visiting her new, little friend, Evelyn. Holly and Eric Lonergan (a staff couple up here) just had their first baby a couple of weeks ago. Callie preferred to look at Evy from Eric's arms as opposed to my own. As soon as I held baby Evy, Callie was fussing for me to hold her. So, jealousy can start young!

More Snow

We had another snow storm early this week. I think it dropped about 6 inches total. Callie and I had to get out of this house to play in it at least for a little while. She didn't seem to mind, in fact it seemed like she welcomed any opportunity to get outside.

I tied plastic bags around her shoes because she doesn't have any boots. At this point Charlie had not had a chance to shovel the driveway, so I knew she'd get a ton of snow in her shoes if I didn't come up with something. We entertained ourselves walking up and down the driveway for a good 20-25 min.

Callie's new trick is taking the shoes off our shoe rack and trying to put them on. Here she is in her daddy's shoes.

A few videos

These are a few of the things Callie has been up to lately:

Drinking from a water fountain. Sometimes we take her with us if we both go exercise at Northwestern. She loves drinking from the water fountain when we are there.

Not Eating Snow. She loves eating the snow outside (or some of the snow that comes from our shoes when we come inside), so we gave her a bowl of it the other day, but she didn't seem interested in eating it like we thought she would.

"Roaring" Like a Lion. You may have to crank the volume on this one. She doesn't roar very loud, but we promise, she is trying to roar.

Playing with Jennifer. This is one of her favorite games.

And saying "amen." She has a couple of words now ("uh oh," "ba" - for ball, something that means bye bye to her, but more sounds like "dah dah," and "amen"). She says amen every time after we pray at dinner or when we put her to bed. The other night I put her in her crib and prayed for her. When I was done, she took her pacifier out of her mouth and said "Amen."

Jennifer has some pictures that she will post in the next few days.
